Our Mixing Studio ServiceS
Mixing Studio Services In Pittsburgh, PA
Mixing is a process that starts early on, before any faders are even moved. We both decide on our goal or vision for the final mix. Once we’re on the same page as far as the ideal mix production, we’ll start to work the mix and master. There is no one specific method or process for mixing an album so each project is treated with its own tailored approach. Every mix decision, effect, plugin, and adjustment is done for a reason. What I strive for in a mix is clarity, crispness, boldness, and an unfiltered, accurate representation of the band’s or artist’s performance.
Mixing Services In Pittsburgh, PA FAQS
What is professional mixing and why is it important?
Mixing is what brings your raw tracks to life. Whatever needs done to the individual tracks (EQ, compression, etc), we’ll implement and take care to make sure they sit well with the other tracks. The result is a polished, balanced mix that sounds great on any device or speaker you’re listening through.
Do you offer mixing and mastering services?
Yes, we mix and master both in-house recorded projects as well as projects recorded at other studios. Send over stems via file transfer, and we’ll take care of the rest. Regardless of the complexity of the project, we’ll give it the attention it deserves. Communication happens throughout the entire recording, mixing and mastering process to make sure your vision is realized.
What genres does Very Tight Recordings specialize in?
- We primarily work with anything under the “rock” umbrella. Pretty much indie, folk, singer-songwriter to hardcore, metal, punk, or grindcore are within the studio’s wheelhouse.
What gear do you use for mixing?
The individual sound of the project will dictate what equipment, outboard gear, and what plugins are used. There is no one size fits all approach to mixing.
Can I give feedback during the mixing process?
Yes. After the first mix draft is complete, you’ll have a chance to review and request revisions. We encourage your input because the best mixes come from open collaboration. Typically Matt will get the mix to 99% finished and together everyone involved can push it over the finish line.
What should I send for a mix session?
Please provide well-labeled WAV stems for each instrument or vocal track. Also include your sample rate/bit depth, a rough mix (if available), BPM, key signature, and any notes or references to guide the creative direction. If possible, include a link to past material and comments about what you’d like to hear differently from your previous mixes.
How many mix revisions are included?
Typically, we’ll have a song wrapped up in 1-2 revisions. If it requires more than that, we’re happy to keep pursuing mix changes as long as we’re not working in circles.
How long does it take to mix a song?
It all depends on the complexity and involvement in the project. Time frames range from a few days to a few weeks.
Can you mix tracks that were recorded elsewhere?
Absolutely. Whether your recordings were made at another studio or at home, we can handle it.
How do I get started with your mixing services?
Reach out through our contact form or call (412) 530-5151. We’ll discuss your goals and send you instructions for file delivery.
